Saturday, April 15, 2017

FRIENDS!!

Happy Easter Weekend!! It's been ages since I've been on the blog. 2017 has been one of the hardest, craziest, jam-packed years of my life thus far. Between work, renewing my visa, and general business maintenance, I feel like I've barely lifted my head up. BUT the great news is I've been blessed with a number of dream collaborations like the one I'm about to share with you. This coming Friday April 21, from 6:30 - 8:30 I will be at The Met Store (as in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Store) to do a live demo with their exclusive line of Caran d'Ache art supplies!! I'll be talking about my career and opening the floor to a Q&A. To RSVP to the event and for more details, click the link below:

Illustrating for Dior x Bergdorf Goodman!!

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Hi Again Friends,

I'm over the moon to finally share with you that I'm partnering with Dior in celebration of their exclusive Winter 2016 Fashion Show Bag at Bergdorf Goodman!!

I have been working on this project in secrecy since May of 2016. Can you imagine trying to keep this in for that long?! I produced 3 custom illustrations to promote the event and I'll be doing live fashion portraits Sept 22-23 from 12-4 PM as a gift with purchase.

Below are the other 2 pieces I created specifically for the Dior event at BG:

And here is the invite that BG sent out to their Dior customers:

I always get so excited seeing my artwork married with the brand logos and type for an official invitation.

I also got to speak with the Social Media / Marketing team over at BG to discuss the partnership with Dior and they posted about it on their blog (see above). Here is the link as well:

If you live in NYC, do not hesitate to stop by. I would love to meet you!! More to come.

NYFW September 2016 Roundup!!

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Happy September My Darlings!!

It seems utterly crazy that I'm writing this as we approach the end of the month already (holy smokes!!). Tomorrow I'm kickstarting a very exciting project (which I will discuss in the next post) and Friday is my BIRTHDAY, WAHOO!! But before all that, I had a crazy exciting NYFW that I neglected to update you on here. To summarize, I partnered with W Magazine to illustrate the gorgeous ladies attending their IT GIRL Luncheon. Below is model Ellie Stuart Hunter and Broadway actress Cynthia Erivo holding their portraits from the luncheon...

The first show I attended this season (actually the last three seasons for that matter) was Creatures of Comfort. I drew live from the runway and was so enchanted with their prints and colorblocking.

Then I partnered with Refinery 29 to promote Papyrus' room in the 29Rooms Fashion Art Funhouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

This was my first time attending 29Rooms so I went utterly bananas taking selfies in all the cool spaces.

I finished the week with a drawing marathon at Lulu's Blogger Style Studio NYFW event with my friend Brooke Hagel. I got to draw this cool chic below in her Tokyo-esque street-style look.

Somewhere in the midst of it all, I managed to do an interview with Jetsetter.com, giving a candid insider's perspective of what NYFW is really like for a fashion illustrator.

And THEN it was finally time for the 2016 Bloglovin H&M Awards, where I was nominated for Best Design Blog, and I WON!!!!!

As if the week couldn't get any better, I finished it off spending two days with the DVF team and my Mom, who flew in from Toronto for the special experience. We got to watch an exclusive fashion show of the Fall 2016 collection, get fitted for a custom wrap dress, and eat breakfast with Diane in her office. TOTALLY SURREAL. Just look at this photo of my Mom and I with Diane. We are her two blonde bookends.

It's such an exciting time for their brand with their new Creative Director Jonathan Saunders taking the lead. Below is my illustration of one of their new SS17 looks.

To finish off the season, I somehow got cited in a New York Times Article on the revival of fashion illustration. You can imagine how bloody ecstatic I was receiving a google alert, notifying me that I was mentioned in the NYTIMES!!

The article is a great read, by the way, for anyone interested in fashion illustration and where it's headed. So that about sums up my NYFW this season!! I'm so excited for my new partnership that begins tomorrow. I'll be sharing that in the next post so stay tuned.

Much love,
Meag xx

Drawing Live at NYFW with WN Pigment Markers

Sunday, October 4, 2015

After kickstarting NYFW with E! News & Fashion Police, I jumped right into my next partnership with Winsor & Newton. This Fall they are launching their brand new pigment markers, which are soooo fun to play with btw, so we teamed up to introduce them at New York Fashion Week. I got invited to a few of my favorite designers' shows and presentations and brought the markers along for the fun. I sketched front row at Creatures of Comfort, straight from the models at Tanya Taylor and Mansur Gavriel, and created some final pieces at home in my studio. As always, you can catch more details on my Instagram @TravelWriteDraw but here are a few highlights:

E! News & Fashion Police NYFW Party!!

Sunday, October 4, 2015

Hello Lovesssss!!

I promised I would catch you all up on the happenings of this past NYFW so get ready for back to back posts detailing the partnerships and excitement that went down. This season kicked off with a bang when I was asked by E! Entertainment Television to illustrate live at their fashion week party in the Meatpacking District. This was/is arguably the biggest live event I have done to date, because I not only illustrated celebrities, but also did it while being filmed for E! News and Fashion Police. I got to sketch Melissa Rivers and Brad Goreski, the hosts of FP, all while they interviewed me. Many of my friends sent me photos and clips of the episode which aired on Sept 14th, 2015 because of course I don't own a television in New York :P! Check it out below and stay tuned for more to come.

Much love,
Meag xx

Calvin Klein x Travel Write Draw Live Sketching FW15

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

My second major partnership this NYFW was with the incredible digital team over at Calvin Klein!! A few weeks before the season began, they reached out to me regarding creating illustrations from the F15 collection. The conversation quickly evolved into having me illustrate both live backstage and after the runway show to create 3 final pieces to be shared on their social accounts.

Getting the opportunity to not only attend, but also draw from the CK show, was an absolute dream come true. I got to speak with the Creative Director Francisco Costa regarding the inspiration behind the collection, and come face to face with the majesty of fashion herself, Miss Anna Wintour!! Check out the final illos above and the one Calvin Klein selected to feature on their instagram here!!

Rebecca Minkoff x Travel Write Draw "Love is in the Air"

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Happy Tuesday Lovelies,

I hope you are having a great start to your week!! I'm continuing to catch up with the backlog of posts here on Travel Write Draw from the crazy month of February. Next up is the amazing Valentine's Day Event I hosted with Rebecca Minkoff at her flagship Soho store. I illustrated nearly 30 portraits in 3 hrs for the hundreds of customers who came in that afternoon. It was such a joy to see how many people responded to the event, collection, and my drawings. I also adore meeting people who follow Travel Write Draw and seeing faces that I've already had the opportunity to meet, so special!!

The great news is I'll be doing something very similar to this soon so stay tuned!!

Much love,
Meag xx

HANRO of Switzerland x Saks Event Illustrating

Monday, December 1, 2014

Good Evening My Loves,

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!! I'm just returning from a long weekend in Toronto and gearing up for another very exciting travel adventure this Wednesday (more on that shortly)!! Last month I helped HANRO of Switzerland, a super luxe undergarments company, celebrate their 130th Anniversary at Saks illustrating live customer portraits. This was such an intimate (no pun intended) affair. I really felt like I had the opportunity to chat with each one of my recipients that night.

Kim Caldwell, pictured above, just started her very own bra fitting and personal consulting company www.hurraykimmay.com. She had such incredibly positive energy, I really wanted to share a bit more from her here on Travel Write Draw. It's amazing how much living in my own passion attracts people who do the same. It is so inspiring to meet and surround myself with other likeminded entrepreneurs. You can do whatever you put your mind to you just have to believe!!

Can't wait to share the next, and very imminent, Travel Write Draw adventure!! New post coming right up.

Much love,
Meag xx

Illustrations for VOGUE Russia

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Hello, Hello My Loves!!

How has your week been thus far?! I'm finally back again, much later than I wanted to be, but grateful to find some time to connect with you all here. This post is devoted to all the illustrations I created backstage, from the runway, and at my hotel room during MBFWRussia for VOGUE Russia daily.

The designers featured in order are Alena Akhmadullina (Image 1), Viva Vox (Image 2-4), Laroom (Image 5-6), Galetsky (Image 7), Bella Potemkina (Image 8), and OFERA by Oksana Fedorova (Image 9-11). I absolutely loved these six collections and really felt my perception of Russian fashion expanding after having viewed them in real life. What do you think?

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Hello My Darlings,

I'm back, I'm back, I'm back from Moscow, Russia!! And what an extraordinary adventure it was...I feel so incredibly blessed to have been one of the three selected illustrators to fly to MBFWRussia and cover the shows through live sketching. It was such a dream opportunity and one of the most surreal experiences of my life to date. From the time I landed at SVO airport I felt like Cinderella. The best part is, the spell didn't break for an entire week.

I was picked up in the official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week vehicle and driven to the stunning Hotel Metropol in the centre of Moscow. The hotel was a 3 minute walking distance from Red Square where I finally got to see St. Basil's Cathedral. The moment my eyes landed on the cathedral, tears welled in my eyes. I felt like everything I had ever imagined for my career, for Travel Write Draw, was coming true!! I was quite literally TWD'ing across the globe...

Tanya Taylor X Saks Event Illustrating

Saturday, October 18, 2014

Happy Sunday Lovelies,

I have just one last post to share with you from the end of September (aka the biggest, baddest, fashion month of the year) before revealing a really exciting announcement!! On September 26th, I was brought back to Saks during contemporary week, to illustrate for the incredible Canadian designer, and my former McGill commerce classmate, Tanya Taylor. It was such an honor to work with this powerhouse talent and her amazing team. This was the first time I illustrated customers in full figure, whilst rendering them in their favorite Tanya Taylor pieces, and I loved it. It was definitely more challenging to do a little visual cutting and pasting, but the results were well worth it. So much so, Tanya's team wanted their very own group sketch after the event. Check out all the fun pics and the final TT portrait below!!

Much love,
Meag xx
