#INSTALOVES

Saturday, June 7, 2014

Good Evening My Darlings,

I hope you've all had a great start to your weekend!! I am up to my eyeballs in projects at the moment and just coming up for air to post some new works on the blog (more on the new projects later ;). I titled this post #INSTALOVES in reference to both the speed and nature in which I illustrated these pieces. I have been collecting amazing street style tears for the past 6 weeks and challenging myself to illustrate one a night in under 20 mins each.

As part of my artistic Spring Awakening, I'm no longer scared to paint straight to paper without first labouring a pencil sketch and perfecting every brush stroke. The imperfections in these works are what make them feel alive. I get such a rush when I can capture a fast fashion moment in a single seating and then share it immediately with the world through my @travelwritedraw Instagram. Below catch a closer look at these quick sketched street style stars.

Watch this space for some serious collabos and new illustrations this week!!

Much love,
Meag xx

  1. I can't believe that these are quickly sketched. They are fabulous and I'm just admiring the little details and those heels in the last illustration too!

  4. great illustrations, do you have really cool tricks or tips in using watercolors for newbies?

    1. @Kaymie yes! Don't be afraid to get wild with your watercolors! I feel like sometimes people get really precious with their watercolor handling because they think it's delicate. But I think the more expressive you use watercolor the better the results. Also, play with colors bleeding and also waiting for some layers to dry and then painting overtop of them. There is a lot of excitement with watercolors so HAVE FUN :) xx
