Day of The Orchid x European Union

Thursday, September 7, 2017

I'm so excited to finally share with you this project I worked on in secrecy for several months this past Spring. In February 2017, I was approached by the Dutch Flower Agency and the European Union, to bring their "Show Who You Are" Orchid Campaign to life, through fashion illustrations married with photos of 12 different species of orchids. The premise of the assignment was to illustrate, both literally and figuratively, the various moments in which you could gift someone an orchid. Whether it's to celebrate someone's promotion or birthday, or help to brighten someone's day when they aren't feeling well, the orchid is such a beautiful way to say that you care. I had such an amazing and inspiring time articulating each of these scenarios using high fashion illustrations and photos of the orchids. I couldn't wait to share the results with you.

The best part of all is that you can hang these illustrations in your home with the downloadable calendar. And you can also discover which of these 25,000 different orchids best matches your personality by filling out the test using the Orchitypes tool here:

A little more information on the campaign here:
The ongoing promotion campaign ‘We feel better around orchids’ is an initiative of Flower council of Holland. The goal of the campaign is to inform consumers within the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Germany about the versatility of the orchid, to inspire them and to stimulate awareness and sales. For more information please visit the following website:

I'm going to share my favorite sketches from the group here and on Instagram (though truthfully I love them all) and can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Much love,

Happy Easter Weekend!! It's been ages since I've been on the blog. 2017 has been one of the hardest, craziest, jam-packed years of my life thus far. Between work, renewing my visa, and general business maintenance, I feel like I've barely lifted my head up. BUT the great news is I've been blessed with a number of dream collaborations like the one I'm about to share with you. This coming Friday April 21, from 6:30 - 8:30 I will be at The Met Store (as in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Store) to do a live demo with their exclusive line of Caran d'Ache art supplies!! I'll be talking about my career and opening the floor to a Q&A. To RSVP to the event and for more details, click the link below:

If you are in New York this coming Friday, be sure to come by!! I can't wait to see you all there!!

Happy Friday Darlings,

I hope you've all been having a fantastic January!! Mine has been extremely hectic with new projects, sorting things for my future in the US, and everything in between. That said, I have some enormously exciting news to share with all of you...I will be speaking at the Apple Store in Williamsburg this coming Thursday February 2nd, 2017 at 6:30 PM!!!!

It has been an absolute dream of mine, since moving to New York nearly 8 years ago, to speak at the Apple Store about my career and all that has brought me to this point. I still can't believe it is really happening. If you are in New York and would like to attend, please make sure to RSVP here:

I will be doing a Keynote Speech, Q&A, as well as illustrating live on the iPad Pro. I'll also be able to work hands on with those who attend and wish to draw with the iPad Pro as well.

Really hope to see you there!!

Much love,

An Open Letter To My People

Monday, January 2, 2017

My Darlings,

We made it!! Happy 2017!! I don't know about you, but the sun has been BEAMING through my parent's living room window since yesterday morning, and for the first time ever, it really feels like a New Year. I'm not sure why this year feels so different from all the others. Maybe in part because there was such an overwhelming, worldwide, collective-desire to leave 2016 behind. But truthfully, I felt different. Unlike every other family member of mine, my eyes welled with tears when the clock struck midnight on January 1st. I was SO sad to see 2016 go.

2016 was an enormous year for me both personally and professionally. I landed some major dream clients, from Dior to Emirates, filmed a campaign commercial in Hong Kong with DFS (absolute bliss!!), had a gallery show with Gemfields and IMG during NYFW, shared breakfast with the incomparable DVF, and got a mention in the New York Times. I paid off all my student/start-up debt and finally made it safely into the black. But beyond all that, 2016 took me around the world to make peace with my past, in ways I can't quite explain here. I revisited some of my favorite places on earth but also saw so many of my dream destinations for the very first time.

When I write all that down, it feels fairly obvious why I would hate to bid adieu to 2016. But life, and all of its great mysteries, do not allow you to live in the past. We must move forward no matter how hard we try to stay still. So the question I can't help but ask myself is: what in the world comes next? How the hell do I sustain this momentum? Better yet, how, and in it what ways do I want to take my business to the next level? Ok, so maybe I have more than one question for myself here, ha!

You see my friends, one slightly negative thing about Instagram is it tends to become a never-ending highlight reel of all the best moments of one's life. No one, or very few of us, are posting moments of defeat or self-doubts. I never post the frustrations of chasing late payments or navigating difficult areas of running your own business. But it's all there and it's all true. I'm not saying those highlight moments aren't real, because they absolutely are. But so too are all the cloudy, murky moments of confusion. I guess I can't help but feel the tense pull between needing to do what's best for me and my business behind the scenes, and keeping the color filled world of Travel Write Draw alive on Instagram.
